January 26 2010, <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Moscow</st1:place></st1:City> - Today, Transport Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin has chaired a regular meeting of Board of Directors of JSC Aeroflot. <o:p></o:p>

The Board considered the issue of flight safety in JSC Aeroflot for <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" ProductID="2009. In">2009. In</st1:metricconverter> the last year, aircraft safety factor reached 99.967%, which is 0.012% higher than in 2008. Such a flight safety indicator was achieved owing to significantly fewer incidents qualified as “Complex Situation”, and zero number of accidents. The number of incidents resulting from aviation equipment failure remained on the level of 2008, and was 1.8 times lower compared to 2004’s figures. Aeroflot’s SAFA ratio based on 139 checks improved by 0.3 compared to 2008, and amounted to 0.38. <o:p></o:p>

At the same time, the planned flying hours target was met 100.8%.<o:p></o:p>

In 2009, the Company withdrew from service the Tu-154 aircraft, and successfully put new A330 airliners into operation. Due to the mass replenishment of Aeroflot’s air fleet with new aircraft, the company employed 213 more aircraft commanders and 226 co-pilots, and retrained 343 pilots for new aircraft types. The total amount of newly employed pilots increased by 260 compared to 2008. 2009 showed the trend towards a larger proportion of younger flying personnel.<o:p></o:p>

JSC Aeroflot Management Board was instructed to provide a flight safety level against the world’s best standards.<o:p></o:p>

The Board approved the provision by Aeroflot of IT services to enable seamless operation of Sheremetyevo Terminal D.<o:p></o:p>

The Board considered the deal structure of JSC Aeroflot-Finance purchasing 25.8% of JSC Aeroflot stock from NRK Group.<o:p></o:p>
