Aeroflot offers new scheduled flight connection between Sochi and Novosibirsk

Moscow, 8 April 2008:  As from 30 April 2008, Aeroflot Russian Airlines will offer scheduled flights on the Sochi – Novosibirsk – Sochi route with its Tu-154M aircraft. Tickets for the flights are available from all Aeroflot sales offices or can be booked directly via our homepage www.aeroflot.com.

Flight SU 1873 from Sochi to Novosibirsk leaves on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 10.30pm and arrives at 5.20am, while the return flight SU 1874 takes off from Novosibirsk on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 6.40am and lands at 8.00am in Sochi (all times are local times).

The new scheduled flight connects Sochi, host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics and a fast-developing spa town, with Novosibirsk, one of the largest traffic hubs in Siberia.

The inauguration of this new route acts as a catalyst to implement Aeroflot’s strategy of connecting Eastern Siberia with the Krasnodar region.

The board meeting in July 2007 unanimously decided to open a regional Aeroflot office in Sochi to strengthen the airline’s presence in this fast-growing market.

With its direct connections from Sochi to destinations in the Russian Federation and abroad, Aeroflot is ideally positioned to participate in the regional market. Of course, strengthening the network of flight connections in this region also benefits Aeroflot’s ambition to be chosen as the official airline of Russia’s Olympic athletes.  Aeroflot already flew the Russian delegation to Guatemala to the IOC conference where Sochi won its bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The popularity of the Black Sea coast in the regions and the wish to improve the connections to the SkyTeam route network also contributed to Aeroflot’s decision to offer this service.
