Moscow, 25 December 2014 – JSC Aeroflot (“the Company”, Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) announces operating results of Aeroflot Group (“the Group”) and the Company for November 2014 and the eleven months of 2014 (“11M 2014”).
Operating Highlights
Passenger traffic of Aeroflot Group in November 2014 was 2.6 mln, up 9.9% year-on-year. For 11M 2014, Group traffic totalled 32.0 mln, a 10.2% year-on-year increase. JSC Aeroflot’s traffic was 1.8 mln in November 2014 and 21.7 mln in 11M 2014, up 10.7% and 12.8% year-on-year, respectively.
In November 2014, Group revenue passenger kilometres (“RPKs”) rose by 4.3% year-on-year, while the Company posted 9.9% year-on-year RPK growth. The Group and the Company delivered increases in available seat kilometres (“ASKs”) of 9.8% and 14.1% respectively.
On domestic routes, Group traffic and RPKs increased 23.6% and 22.2% year-on-year respectively in November 2014, mainly driven by increased flight frequencies and carrying capacities on high-demand routes. JSC Aeroflot’s domestic passenger traffic was up by 19.2%, while RPKs increased 15.9% year-on-year in November.
On international routes, Group traffic and RPKs decreased 2.3% and 5.1% year-on-year in November 2014. This was mainly due to a decline in traffic and RPKs in the charter flight segment, as well as lower frequency of flights on Ukrainian routes. JSC Aeroflot’s international passenger traffic was up 4.4% year-on-year, while RPKs increased 6.9% year-on-year in November.
Seat load factor of the Group and the Company decreased by 3.8 percentage points (pps) year-on-year to 71.8% and by 2.8 pps year-on-year to 73.0% respectively. The decrease in the seat load factor was mainly attributed to high pace of capacity growth, decrease in the CIS traffic and overall market environment.
Fleet Update
During 11M 2014, JCS Aeroflot expanded its fleet with 13 Airbus A320s, three Boeing 737-800s, six Boeing 777-300ERs and two SSJ-100s.
